Scholarship Program

LGFP, in partnership with the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA), proudly offers an annual scholarship program, aimed at empowering finance professionals to build their capability to support their organisation in providing financially sustainable service delivery for their communities. Scholarship recipients receive enrolment in IPWEA’s Professional Certificate in Infrastructure Financial Management (ProCert IFM) course, valued at $3,100. More information on the course can be found on IPWEA’s website.

The objectives of the scholarship program are to:

  • Support Queensland’s local government finance professionals in developing capacity and credentials in infrastructure financial management.
  • Contribute to strengthening infrastructure financial management in the Queensland local government sector.
  • Promote broader awareness and understanding of the vital link between long-term financial planning and asset management.

Congratulations to our 2024 Scholarship Winners!

Applications for the 2024 Program have now been decided and we’d like to extend our congratulations to Kateryna Hay, Townsville City Council; Natalie Hudson, Hinchinbrook Shire Council; and Hannah Peters, Cassowary Coast Regional Council.

This year, the high number and quality of applications led us to seek the support of our colleagues at Queensland Treasury Corporation, which has enabled us to provide an additional scholarship. This partnership between IPWEA, QTC and LGFP underscores our collective commitment to enhancing financial management within Queensland’s local government sector, ensuring that our communities benefit from knowledgeable and skilled professionals.
