40th Anniversary Conference a huge success

Over 260 delegates attended the 40th Anniversary Conference which was held at RACV Royal Pines Gold Coast 19 – 22 November 2019.

Delegates heard from a range of local and international speakers on topics relating to the how the future will look in another 40 years.

A number of past Committee members attended and two participated on a discussion panel which talked about the past, present and future of Local Government Finance Professionals.

Annual Personal Development and Business Improvement Bursary

Applications are now closed for LGFP’s 2019 Personal Development and Business Improvement Bursary.  Two bursaries of $5,000 each are being offered to support Queensland local government employees to undertake personal development and/or business improvement initiatives with a focus on long term local government sustainability. The program would suit officers wishing to undertake a study tour to explore better practices and future possibilities in their area of interest.

Winners will be announced at our Annual Conference in November 2019.

Audit Committee Survey Results

In January 2019 the LGFP Committee sought responses to a survey on Audit Committees and the Internal Audit Function within councils.  The survey results have been forwarded to the Queensland Audit Office and the Director General DLGRMA.

2019 CFO and Finance Managers Forum

65 CFOs and Finance Managers from 38 Councils attended the Forum held on 19 July 2019 at the Brisbane Airport Conference Centre.  The papers from the Forum can be found on Events – Past Conference/Events page.
