About Us

The Local Government Finance Professionals Association of Queensland (LGFP) represents the financial and accounting professionals in Queensland Local Government.  It was originally formed in 1980 as the Local Government Accountants Association of Queensland (LGAA).  Our name was changed at the November 2011 AGM to better reflect the nature of our membership across Queensland councils.

The Association provides a forum for members to discuss the various problems which arise in carrying out the requirements of the Local Government Act, other the Local Government financial requirements and other matters of common interest within Local Government.  The flagship event of LGFP Queensland is the 3 day Annual Conference held each year to discuss contemporary issues.  The Association’s Strategic Plan is to expand this role to include redevelopment of this website to create an active forum for members.
